Questions
Account
- I lost my password. What can I do?Click Password lost?, next to the button to log on. The e-mail address of the account for which you forgot your password is asked. A link is sent to this e-mail address and with it, you can change your password.
- I lost my e-mail address. What can I do?This is a tricky problem. We advise you to try resetting your password (see the question above), using multiple e-mail addresses. A link to reset your password will only be sent to existing e-mail addresses and this way you can figure out your e-mail address. You can even decide to have you password reset by clicking the link in the e-mail.
Pools
- Can I join a pool more than once?Yes, you can, but always with a different e-mail address. This means you need to have more than one account. You can however join different pools with one account.
- I want to invite people without an e-mail address. Is this possible? OrganizersNo, unfortunately not. To open an account for TournamentGame, your participants need to have an e-mail address. Only when they have an account they can join your pool. The only solution to this problem is opening an e-mail account or using the e-mail address of someone you know.
- What do you mean with "Allow self invitations"? OrganizersBesides sending invitations to specific e-mail addresses, we offer the option to have people invite themselves. By enabling this option in your pool's properties, one can use the URL below it, to invite himself. The URL contains - beside your pool's code - a number of random digits and characters to make "guessing" of the address virtually impossible. An invitation that was created by a potential participant, always needs to be approved by the pool's organization. The latter two measures take care of keeping unwanted participants out of the way.
- The URL for self invitatons is hard to remember. Is there an alternative? OrganizersThe URL (or web address) is made complicated on purpose to make spreading it more difficult. This way we prevent a flood of unwanted invitations for your pool. Therefore, you need to publish the URL in your own mailing (for instance using a distribution list) or on a website.
If, after all, you would like easier access to your pool, we offer two alternatives:
- for a large number of invitations, we can perform a so called bulk-import; you need to supply us a plain text file with names and e-mail addresses that we will then create invitations for in the system (just like you're doing it yourself); more information can be found in the questions about invitations
- we can link the URL for self invitations to a (own) domain; more information about this is in the question below - Can I use my own domain for my pool? OrganizersThe short answer is: "Yes! And... no.". The long answer is:
No, because it's technically not (yet) possible to use multiple domains within TournamentGame.
Yes, we can use your own domain to send the potential participant to the page to invite himself. Using an address like http://pool.company.com, the user gets redirected to the self invitations URL that is mentioned in the pool's properties. To make this mechanism work, the option "Allow self invitations" must be enabled.
Only we can set up your own domain (within TournamentGame), you can't do it yourself. Whenever you are interested in doing this, please Contact us. It also means a change in a so called DNS record that you need to take care of yourself. The latter is not necessary when you're using a subdomain within our domain (like http://company.tournamentgame.eu). - Can I assign multiple organizers? OrganizersYes, as soon as a person accepted your invitation, you can make him/her organizer in the members administration.
- Can I delete my pool? OrganizersYes, but only if all notes, invitations and members in it are deleted. Only the member that created the pool may exist, but it may not be paid.
Invitations
- I want to invite a large group of people, but don't want to invite them manually. What can I do? OrganizersAfter some consultation, we can import a list of people from a plain text file into the system. We will ask you to create a column with names and a column with e-mail addresses in a text file and separate these columns with a unique character. A program like Excel is very suitable in doing this, since it allows you to save a file in comma or tab separated format. If you want to invite people in different languages, you need to deliver a file per language.
- When does an invitation become "Waiting"? OrganizersThis can happen in one of these scenarios:
- you invited somebody at a certain e-mail address, but the person accepts the invitation with an account that has a different e-mail address
- somebody created an account during a self invitation process (when the option "Allow self invitations" is enabled in your pool's properties)
Before you can approve the invitation, the person should activate his/her account using the activation mail that was sent after creating the account. You can however already reject or delete the invitation.
Payments
- Why credits? We facilitate in organizing pools for different games and wanted the possibility of different prices per game. We also wanted lower prices for increasing volumes of participants. The credit system combines these two wishes.
- What is the price of a credit? The price per credit is determined by the amount you buy at once. We reward people that buy more credits with a lower price per credit. The different prices are described on the Pricing page.
- Which payment methods are available? We use two payment services (MultiSafepay and PayPal), that both offer multiple payment methods. MultiSafepay allows you to pay using Carte Bleue, DIRECTebanking, Giropay, iDEAL, Maestro, MasterCard, MisterCash, MultiSafepay, BankTransfer and VISA. Using PayPal, you can pay with American Express, MasterCard, PayPal and VISA. Payments with MasterCard or VISA are possible via both payment services.
MultiSafepay requires you to create an account at their site before you can pay, which PayPal only requires when paying with a PayPal-account.
- When do I pay? OrganizersAs long as the game isn't started, you can toggle members to "paid" or "unpaid". Once a game has started, you can only toggle members to "paid". If you want to buy the exact number of credits for your pool, you need to wait until the game starts (when joining a pool becomes impossible), buy credits and toggle your members to "paid".
